cover art prep
Resize artwork to 3000x3000 for Spotify and DistroKid, or any size, free with nothing uploaded.
cover art requirements for spotify, apple music and distrokid
Distributors like DistroKid, TuneCore and CD Baby reject artwork that is not a perfect square, is smaller than 3000 by 3000 pixels, or is saved in CMYK instead of RGB. This tool fixes all three: it crops or pads your image square, upscales it with proper Lanczos resampling so it stays sharp, and always outputs an RGB JPG or PNG.
Everything happens in your browser, so your unreleased artwork is never uploaded anywhere. If your source image is very small the checklist will warn you that the upscale may look soft, because no tool can invent detail that was never there.
common questions
what size does cover art need to be?
3000 by 3000 pixels is the safe answer: it satisfies Spotify, Apple Music, DistroKid, TuneCore, CD Baby, TIDAL and Amazon. Apple's minimum is 1400 and SoundCloud displays 800, and this tool exports all three sizes.
why did distrokid reject my cover art?
The usual reasons: not perfectly square, smaller than 3000 by 3000, or saved as CMYK instead of RGB. This tool fixes all three automatically and the checklist tells you exactly what it changed.
will upscaling make my artwork blurry?
A little, if the source is small. Lanczos resampling keeps it as sharp as possible, and the checklist warns you when the upscale factor is large enough to look soft. From about 1500 pixels of source width you are usually fine.
can I make banners and thumbnails too?
Yes. Presets cover YouTube thumbnails and channel art, the Spotify for Artists header, X headers, and Instagram posts, portraits and stories, and you can type any custom width and height up to 6000 pixels. Drag the preview to choose which part of your artwork survives the crop.
