pitch & key changer
Change a song's pitch or key online without the chipmunk effect, free with nothing uploaded.
change a song's key or speed online
Drop in a track and the same detector behind our key and bpm finder reads its key and tempo. Shift the pitch in semitones or pick a target key directly, and change the speed independently, with the new bpm shown as you drag. Singers use it to move a song into their range, DJs to match keys and tempos, and musicians to slow a part down for practice without it dropping in pitch.
Preview responds live while you move the sliders, and the finished version downloads as mp3 or wav. Everything runs in your browser, so the song never leaves your device.
common questions
how do I change the key of a song?
Drop the track in and the detector reads its key and bpm automatically. Then either move the pitch slider in semitones or just tap the key you want on the target key row, and the shift is worked out for you. Preview plays your changes live.
why doesn't the speed slider change the pitch?
Pitch and speed are processed independently with a proper time-stretch algorithm, not the tape-style trick that makes voices go chipmunk. Slow a song down to practice it, or match another track's bpm, and it stays in key.
how far can I shift before it sounds bad?
Within about 4 semitones and 75 to 150 percent speed the result stays clean on most music. Bigger shifts start to smear drums and transients, which is true of every pitch shifter; the tool warns you when you are in that zone.
what is formant preservation for?
Shifting pitch normally shifts the character of a voice with it. The formant option keeps the vocal timbre in place while the notes move, which sounds more natural on singers, and matters less on instrumental music.
