two questions, one piano

I know the key: pick a root and a scale, from major and the minors through pentatonics, blues and the modes, and you get the notes lit up on the piano, every chord in the key with its roman numeral in triads or sevenths, and a handful of progressions that already sound like songs, each with a play button. Relative and parallel keys are one tap away, and major and minor keys show their Camelot code for DJs.

I have some notes: tap them on the piano, or type them, or type a chord symbol like Am7, and the finder names the chord, including inversions from the bass note, and ranks every scale those notes fit, exact fits first. Tap a scale to open it. It is built to answer the questions producers actually ask: what chords go with this, and what key is this in.

common questions

what chords are in the key of C major?

C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am and B diminished as triads; Cmaj7, Dm7, Em7, Fmaj7, G7, Am7 and Bm7b5 as sevenths. Pick C major above and tap any of them to hear it.

how do I find what key a melody is in?

Tap the notes it uses on the piano. The scales list shows which keys contain all of them; when two fit, the one whose root feels like home is usually right, and the relative major and minor are always both listed.

what is the difference between a scale and a key?

A scale is the set of notes; a key is that set with one note treated as home. C major and A minor use the same notes, which is why the finder lists both as relative keys.
